# Network Anomalies

The network anomalies overview provides a detailed overview of all detected network anomalies and allows you to block network attacks directly.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Please note**: For values to be shown here, the following requirements must be met:

* *Detection* of network anomalies must be enabled in the [settings of the individual hosts](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/host-detail-view/settings.md#core-feature) or under **Hosts** → **Policies** via a [corresponding policy](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/hosts/management/policy-manager/add-policy-manager.md#enginsight-intrusion-detection-system-ids).
* *Blocking* of network attacks must be enabled in the [settings of the individual hosts](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/host-detail-view/settings.md#core-feature) or under **Hosts** → **Policies** via a [corresponding policy](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/hosts/management/policy-manager/add-policy-manager.md#enginsight-shield-ips).
  {% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
By default, detected network anomalies are stored for 30 days. You can adjust this period via the Enginsight configuration file.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" icon="lightbulb" %}
For more information on how to change the retention periods for Enginsight log entries, see our Knowledge Base: [How can I adjust the retention periods for my Enginsight logs?](https://docs.enginsight.com/docs/knowledge-base/english/logging/how-can-i-adjust-the-retention-periods-for-my-enginsight-logs)

The [network anomalies overview](#netzwerkanomalien-overview) provides information such as:

* which type of network attack was detected and its severity.
* which IP address from which country attacked which target host.
* when the network attack was detected or blocked.

You can also define the [start and end time](#define-start-and-end-time) for the analysis, [export](#export-list) the list, and [add a manual rule](#adress-anomaly) for detected network anomalies.

### Sources

Here you can define the source (IP address range or domain name) for the network connection to which the manual rule should apply.

The following options are available:

### Destinations

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Please note**: The manual entry of destination IP address ranges is disabled by default for network anomalies. By default, the manual rule applies to all target IP address ranges (IPv4 0.0.0.0/0 and IPv6 ::/0) in network traffic.
{% endhint %}

### Assigned Hosts

Define the hosts or groups of hosts to which the manual rule should apply. The following options are available:

<table><thead><tr><th width="199.5625">Option</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Host Binding</td><td><p>Define whether you want to assign hosts to the rule by name or by tags.</p><div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="info" class="hint hint-info"><p>The default host binding is <strong>Reference</strong>.</p></div><p><i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the <strong>Host Binding</strong> field to expand a list of all available options.<br><br>The following options are available:</p><ul><li><strong>Tags</strong>: Select hosts using their assigned tags.</li><li><strong>Reference</strong>: Select hosts by name.</li></ul></td></tr><tr><td>Hosts</td><td><p><i class="fa-eye">:eye:</i> This option is only visible if you selected <strong>Reference</strong> in the <strong>Host Binding</strong> field.<br></p><p>Define hosts that should be added to the rule.</p><div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="info" class="hint hint-info"><p>This field is already prefilled with the host of the selected list item.</p></div><p><i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the <strong>Hosts</strong> field to expand a list of all available hosts and select one or more hosts.
