# Automatic System Hardening: Checklists

Automatic system hardening helps you meet technical requirements and legal compliance requirements. It includes security-relevant technical checks for your hosts, which are performed automatically. If required, the corresponding system hardening is automatically rolled out to the assigned hosts.

The checklist overview for automated system hardening allows you to import preconfigured checklists or create and manage checklists tailored specifically to your systems for your [compliance audits](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/hosts/compliance/automatic-system-hardening-audits.md).

<i class="fa-compass">:compass:</i> Navigate to **Hosts** → **Compliance** → **Automatic System Hardening** → **Checklists** to show a list of all preconfigured and custom checklists. If you have not created any checklists yet, this view is empty.

The [checklist overview](#checklist-overview) provides information such as:

* whether the checklist is preconfigured and the controls are therefore managed by Enginsight.
* which hosts are checked using the checklist.
* which controls are assigned to a custom checklist.
* whether the checklist is enabled or not.

## Navigation

### Filtering the List&#x20;

<i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the **Filter** icon <i class="fa-filter">:filter:</i> above the list to filter the list by predefined parameters.

### Sorting List Items

<i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the **Sort** icon <i class="fa-sort">:sort:</i> next to a column name in the table header to sort by that column in ascending <i class="fa-angle-up">:angle-up:</i> or descending order <i class="fa-chevron-down">:chevron-down:</i> .

<i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the sort icon <i class="fa-bars-sort">:bars-sort:</i> above the list to adjust the priority of the applied sorting. A menu opens that shows all columns by which the list is currently sorted. Drag and drop the shown items to change the sorting priority.

### Deleting List Items

<i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Select the checkbox <i class="fa-square">:square:</i> next to a list item to select the corresponding item. Alternatively, select the checkbox in the table header to select all list items.

The number of selected list entries is now displayed next to the search field.

The **Delete** button <i class="fa-trash">:trash:</i> also appears in the upper-right corner. Click it, then confirm the message that appears by clicking **Delete**.

The checklist overview is structured as a table.

## Adding a Checklist

## Importing a Checklist Catalog

<i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click <i class="fa-arrows-rotate-reverse">:arrows-rotate-reverse:</i> **Import Checklist Catalog** in the upper-right corner to [add a preconfigured checklist](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/hosts/compliance/automatic-system-hardening-checklists/add-checklist.md).

We provide preconfigured checklists for several operating systems. They already include all controls that are required for hardening the respective operating system to ensure a comprehensive check.

## Checklist: Edit View

Here you can adjust [configured settings](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/hosts/compliance/automatic-system-hardening-checklists/add-checklist.md#basic-settings) and delete the checklist.
