# Observer

Observer is an Enginsight component that is installed as a service on servers that represent different locations, such as internal or external networks or different geographical regions, to monitor endpoints (websites and domains).

This includes checking the validity of SSL/TLS certificates, checking for vulnerabilities, malware, and compliance with specific security policies, as well as monitoring availability and performance.

{% hint style="info" %}
For the SaaS version of Enginsight, you can use the Observer instances managed by us in the Frankfurt am Main and East Virginia (USA) locations.
{% endhint %}

:compass: Navigate to **Endpoints** → **Observer** to show an overview of all installed Observers. If you have not configured an Observer yet, this view is empty.

The [Observer overview](#observer-overview) provides information such as:

* which Observers were installed and edited, and when.
* at which location ("region") an Observer is installed.
* which network segments an Observer monitors.
* which version of an Observer is installed and whether an update is available.

You can also retrieve Observer logs and [add new Observers](#add-observer).
