Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://docs.enginsight.com/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/endpoints/overview/add-endpoint.md). # Add Endpoint Click **Create Endpoint** in the upper-right corner of the [endpoint overview](/docs/manual/english/platform-usage/endpoints/overview.md#endpoints-overview) to create a new endpoint. The **Endpoints** → **Add** view opens.

Click **Create Endpoint** after configuring all settings to save and create the new endpoint. Click **Back** to return to the list overview. {% hint style="danger" %} **Please note**: If you leave this view without saving, all configured settings will be lost and cannot be recovered. {% endhint %} *** ## General Settings Here you can configure various basic settings.

The following options are available:

Option	Description
Target	Enter the URL for a domain or IP address that you want to monitor. Please note: The URL must always include http:// or https://.
Description	Provide a more detailed description for the endpoint. This field is optional.
Tags	Define tags that should be added to the endpoint. The default tag is ENDPOINT. Click the Tags field to expand a list of all available tags, and select one or more tags. Alternatively, use the free-text input to find tags in the list more quickly. Click the Remove icon next to an added tag to remove it from the Tags field. Leave the Tags field empty if you do not want to assign a tag to the endpoint.
Regions	Define the locations from which the endpoint should be monitored. This setting corresponds to the Observer that should be used to monitor the endpoint. For the SaaS version of Enginsight, two observers are provided by default for the hosting regions Germany and USA. Click the Regions field to expand a list of all available Observers, and select one or more Observers. Alternatively, use the free-text input to find an Observer in the list more quickly. Click the Remove icon next to an added Observer to remove it from the Regions field.

*** ## Responsibilities Here you can define who is automatically notified if, for example, an alert that concerns the respective endpoint is triggered.

The following options are available:

Technical Manager	Define a user who is responsible for maintaining and operating the endpoint. The default technical manager is the currently logged-in user. Click the Technical Manager field to expand a list of all available users, and select a user. Alternatively, use the free-text input to find users in the list more quickly. Click the Remove icon next to an added user to remove them from the Technical Manager field.
Specialist	Define a user who is responsible for content-related and functional aspects of the endpoint. The default specialist is the currently logged-in user. Click the Specialist field to expand a list of all available users, and select a user. Alternatively, use the free-text input to find users in the list more quickly. Click the Remove icon next to an added user to remove them from the Specialist field.
I am authorized to analyze this endpoint	Enable this option to confirm that you are authorized to monitor and analyze the endpoint you are creating. Please note: For data protection reasons, monitoring an endpoint may only be performed by authorized persons. Any violation may have legal consequences. Please also read our Terms and Conditions. Please note: This is a required field. The new endpoint can only be added if you confirm that you are authorized to analyze the endpoint. Select or deselect the checkbox next to the option to enable or disable the option.
