# Contingent Management

Contingent management allows you, as a main organization, to view details about used and remaining asset contingents for your [license](/docs/manual/english/administration/settings/license.md) and to manage contingent distribution across linked suborganizations.

**Please note**: If you do not assign an asset contingent to a suborganization, that suborganization can freely use the booked total contingent of your main organization.

The contingent management view is divided into two areas. On the left side, you will find a [general overview](#left-hand-side-overall-overview) of used and remaining license contingents. On the right side, you can individually [assign license contingents](#right-hand-side-quota-management) to each suborganization.

The [contingent management overview](#right-hand-side-quota-management) provides information such as:

* how many assets of your license you are using in total and how many are still available.
* how many assets of your license are used by linked suborganizations and how many are still available to them.
* whether asset contingents have been manually assigned to your suborganizations and how many.

You can also manually assign asset contingents to suborganizations.

## Left Side: General Overview

Here you will find an overview of the distribution of license contingents for your assets (hosts and endpoints) across all organizations.

This number is deducted from the total available asset contingent.</td></tr><tr><td>In Use: Hosts (Servers)</td><td>Shows the number of hosts already in use, in this case servers. This number is deducted from the total available asset contingent.</td></tr><tr><td>In Use: Endpoints</td><td>Shows the number of endpoints already in use. This number is deducted from the total available asset contingent.</td></tr><tr><td>Quota: Suborganizations</td><td>Shows the total license contingent that has been manually assigned to your suborganizations. ## Right Side: Contingent Management

Here you can assign license contingents to each suborganization individually and define whether they are allowed to use the Enginsight SIEM and/or the Enginsight Hacktor component for penetration testing.

#### Sorting List Items

<i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the **Sort** icon <i class="fa-sort">:sort:</i> next to a column name in the table header to sort by that column in ascending <i class="fa-angle-up">:angle-up:</i> or descending order <i class="fa-chevron-down">:chevron-down:</i> .

<i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the sort icon <i class="fa-bars-sort">:bars-sort:</i> above the list to adjust the priority of the applied sorting. A menu opens that shows all columns by which the list is currently sorted. Drag and drop the shown items to change the sorting priority.

### Contingent Management: Overview

The contingent management overview is structured as a table. The following information is shown:

Suborganizations without a manually assigned contingent, which are therefore allowed to freely use the license contingent of the main organization, are grouped under <strong>From the Pool (&#x3C;NumberOfSuborganizations>)</strong>.</p></div><p>Shows the name and organization ID of the suborganization.</p></td></tr><tr><td>Assets in Use</td><td>Shows how many assets of the license contingent are already being used by the suborganization.</td></tr><tr><td>Assets</td><td><p><i class="fa-eye">:eye:</i> The <strong>Quota</strong> field is only visible if you have enabled manual contingent assignment.<br><br><i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Click the <strong>Quota</strong> field and enter a value that defines how many assets (hosts and endpoints combined) the corresponding suborganization is allowed to use. Alternatively, use the <i class="fa-angles-up-down">:angles-up-down:</i> buttons to increase or decrease the value step by step.</p><div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="info" class="hint hint-info"><p>Contingents assigned here are deducted from your total license contingent.</p></div></td></tr><tr><td>Features</td><td><i class="fa-eye">:eye:</i> These options are only visible if you have enabled manual contingent assignment.<br><br>Allow the corresponding suborganization to use the Enginsight SIEM and/or the Hacktor for penetration testing.<br><br><i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Select or deselect a checkbox <i class="fa-square">:square:</i> to enable or disable the corresponding option.</td></tr><tr><td>Manual</td><td>Define that license contingents are assigned manually for the respective suborganization.<br><br>This way, suborganizations can only use as many assets as have been assigned to them. In addition, they can only use the SIEM and the Hacktor if this has been explicitly allowed.<br><br><i class="fa-computer-mouse">:computer-mouse:</i> Enable the toggle <i class="fa-toggle-large-on">:toggle-large-on:</i> to assign contingents manually.</td></tr></tbody></table>
