# How do I disable macOS sending metrics to the Enginsight Pulsar while in sleep mode?

On macOS hosts, metrics and pings may occasionally be sent to the Enginsight agent Pulsar even though the host is actually in sleep mode.

This is caused by a specific macOS setting that can lead to unwanted spikes in the host metrics, which can distort monitoring results.

Follow these steps to disable the corresponding setting:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Open **System Settings** on your macOS system.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click the **Battery** menu item, then click **Options**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
A window with additional settings opens.

Change the **Wake for network access** setting to **Never** to disable sending metrics to the Pulsar while in sleep mode.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
